Thank you for your interest in euphonium lessons at the Kansas City School of Music! The euphonium is one of the most versatile instruments to play. It is very similar to a tuba, so musicians can often switch off between the two, though it plays a bit higher and frequently has solos and melodic lines in band and orchestra music. The euphonium is a cornerstone in any wind band or orchestra, and its fraternal twin, the baritone, is vital to the bright bass sound of the marching band. Due to the its similarity to the tuba, euphonium and tuba players usually study with the same teachers, even at the collegiate level.

Our low brass instructor takes care to provide each student with a diverse range of repertoire, no matter their skill-level or age. We work to create a solid music foundation in each student’s life, allowing them to explore their creativity and talents with each and every lesson. Our euphonium teacher combines extensive experience with a passion for his instrument. He is committed to developing their students’ technique and instilling a deep understanding and love of music. He will adjust his style and focus based on the student’s strengths and weaknesses and work with them on every aspect of playing the euphonium to develop a strong understanding of the instrument, along with a deeper understanding of music. Performance Opportunities

Performing is a key part of learning an instrument. At Kansas City School of Music, we offer ample opportunities for our students to perform. In addition to activities within the Kansas City School of Music, students are encouraged to pursue other opportunities to perform, such as District and State Band/Orchestra, District and State Solo & Ensemble Festival, and the Youth Symphony of Kansas City.

At Kansas City School of Music, we have two locations for your convenience: our Lenexa campus and our Overland Park campus. Each facility has soundproof walls and temperature control, as well as pianos for accompaniment purposes. Our state-of-the-art facilities are just a small part of our standards of excellence.
