Bassoon Lessons

Bassoon picture

Thank you for your interest in bassoon lessons at Christian Music Academy! While teaching the fundamentals of the instrument, we give our bassoon students a supportive, structured, and instinctive learning environment. We teach students to trust their musical intuitions.

The bassoon is an extremely versatile instrument, with abilities ranging from creating bass lines to producing soaring treble melodies. The shape of the instrument is conical, which gives the sound more overtones and creates a richness not unlike the human voice. There are, therefore, many settings for the bassoon, including band, orchestra, solo and chamber settings.

Our instructor knows that mutual respect is important in the teacher and student relationship, and praise for hard work goes a long way. Our instructor also focuses on helping her students foster self-awareness, which helps students develop the ability to make their own educated decisions and judgements when they are on their own. We enhance students’ musical instincts and help them improve their performance, all while providing a positive experience. Our students don’t just play the bassoon; they excel.

Master Teacher

Every great music school starts with experienced music instructors who are looking to make a difference in the lives of their students. Our master bassoon teacher will custom design a lesson plan based on each student’s needs. View her biography below for more information on her expertise.

Performance Opportunities

Performing is a key part of learning an instrument. At Kansas City School of Music, we offer ample opportunities for our students to perform. In addition to activities within the Christian Music Academy, students are encouraged to pursue other opportunities to perform, such as District and State Band/Orchestra, District and State Solo & Ensemble Festival, and the Youth Symphony of Kansas City.

Exceptional Facilities

The quality of facility won’t make or break a student’s ability to learn an instrument, but it can certainly make it more enjoyable. At Christian Music Academy, we have two locations for your convenience: our Lenexa campus and our Overland Park campus. Each facility has soundproof walls and temperature control, as well as pianos for accompaniment purposes. Our state-of-the-art facilities are just a small part of our standards of excellence.

Parental Involvement

As a parent, you’re probably looking for any way you can to get involved. Our instructors here at Christian Music Academy are happy to offer you advice and guidance for getting involved with your child’s music education. We require parents to sit in on lessons if their student is in preschool or elementary school because we believe parental involvement is crucial during this stage of musicianship. Visit our parental involvement page to learn more about these expectations.
